First but Definitely Not the Last

Hello! My name is Cheyenne and I am thrilled to kick us off with the first (and definitely not the last) NO Good Fellows Blog. I am at Newman’s Own Foundation, working with Diana Echevarria on operating the Fellowship program, while working on some Grants related tasks. I graduated from Bucknell University with degrees in Psychology and Sociology.  I love anything Boston and I was once chosen, by Jennifer Connolly herself, to give her and her son a tour of Bucknell.

Being the Fellow at Newman’s Own Foundation has allowed me to experience a multitude of different parts of a moving organization. After only working for 2 months, I feel that I have been presented with a number of opportunities to engage with grantees and with the unique business model that we operate under.

A specific event that I was privileged on attending was the Discover Connecticut Day in Washington D.C. on September 6th. The expo comprised of tons of representatives from different businesses across the state of Connecticut, sharing their information, products and services with one another and people from Capitol Hill. Although it was a really long day, it was so rewarding to be able to represent not only Newman’s Own Foundation in sharing with spectators our 100% profits to charity, but also the Inc. side, in telling everyone to try the products and how amazingly great tasting they are. We provided people with goody bags filled with salad dressing packets, our dark chocolate, licorice and more. People were surprised that we had our own wine, which was also offered at our table!

It is such a sensational feeling when you tell people what we do with our profits and their eyes light up, their jaws drop and they repeat the words “all of your profits to charity” in amazement. We truly are up to “NO Good” here and I am so fortunate to represent a part of Newman’s legacy and the amazing good that comes out of a Newman’s Own purchase. Meeting the Connecticut senators, touring the Capitol and trying the amazing food and drinks from our business neighbors were fabulous bonuses! I look forward to attending more events (*wink wink*) that help to remind me of the good that comes out of social enterprises.
